Advancing Women In Skilled Trades

Diversity in the workplace brings together a variety of skills, experience, and expertise to benefit a company. It is important for all levels of an organization to prepare for, understand, and accept change in order to reap the benefits of diversity, and to create a healthy and productive workplace culture.

YWCA Hamilton has been at the forefront of promoting the increase of diversifying the workforce by training more women in different skilled trades.

Equitable Pathways for Young Women

This project was designed to review best practices and to work with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board and the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board to develop a comprehensive strategy to create an equitable pathway for young women from Grade 9 – 12, to have equal opportunity to enter careers in the technical field and skilled trades as they move through high school and on to post-secondary education.
